5 Essential Hair Accessories and Tools

https://encrypted-tbn3.gstatic.com/
No matter what length or type of hair you have, it's fun experimenting with different hair styles. Sometimes, we get too carried away though. What I mean by this is buying every 'trendy' hair accessory or styling tool that's 'in'. In this case, buying less is more. Read on to see how you can achieve money-saving hairstyles.

1. A comb or brush
One styling tool isn't necessarily better than the other. If either is used in correctly, it can cause damage to your scalp and hair. To avoid damage, it's important to understand each of the tools' purposes. Due to a comb's 'saw-cut' nature, it's better to use it on wet hair. It makes it easier to remove knots and tangles. The simple structure also allows you to have better control when styling your hair (parting, teasing, etc.). Although not necessary, you can run a brush through your hair after combing. A brush can also be used to create hairstyles, including when blow-drying.When purchasing either product, avoid those made with metal or looks damaged.

2. Hair ties
A hair band is the ultimate hair accessory because it allows you to create any hairstyle. When purchasing hair bands, choose an elastic band that is fully covered in cloth. In order for a hairstyle to be held securely, the tie should be wrapped around the hair at least twice. People with thicker hair can wear scrunchies for a stronger hold.

3. A blow dryer
Out of all the hair tools, this is the most useful. In addition to blow drying, you can create hairstyles with it. Here's what you need to look for in a quality blow dryer. Choose ceramic heating to safely dry the hair from the inside. Ionic drying will produce negatively charged ions, which will prevent drying, frizz, and flatness. Last but not least, make sure the dryer has a wattage of at least 1300. If you're interested in creating different hairstyles, pick up a dryer with a diffuser or concentrator attachment.

4. Hair barrettes
These aren't just for little girls! There are various types of hair barrettes to aid you in achieving a sophisticated hairstyle. The most cost-efficient is bobby pins. These are useful for tucking in loose strands or holding large sections of hair.

5. Headbands
A headband adds flair to any hairstyle, whether it's casual or formal. It's ideal for keeping hair out of your face and adding volume to the crown. To decide which type of headband is right for you, identify your face shape. Opt for a wider headband if your face is wide and a thinner headband if your face is narrow. I recommend purchasing cotton headbands to avoid headaches and ear irritations.

I hope that you've learned as much as I did about creating hairstyles at a low cost. To save even more money, choose hair accessories in your hair color. This way, they can be worn with any outfit. Don't be afraid to stray away from the classics though - try metallics and patterns. As with anything, if you see any signs of damage on an accessory or tool, please replace it.
